The Book Club

03-17-2026 at 3:01 PM

The Book Club, which was initiated by Olga Medvedeva as an additional activity of the Language Teachers Association, has been meeting for six years!

The goal of the Club is to read  and discuss award-winning contemporary fiction from various countries and cultures.

In the romantic premises of the Arts Printing House Infotheque, run by Eglė Jovaišaitė, the book lovers meet one time per month; on lucky days they are joined by honorary invitees: translators, authors or editors. In 6 years of the club history, the members discussed over 50 books from 43 countries. Each time, the host creates the environment for the chosen book that reflects its culture and origin. For all six years there has been little change in the number of participants, though the range of discussion has gradually expanded to broader topics such as life, family and society, work, communication. The rationale of the Club, as well as its venue and the friendly atmosphere of the  meetings add to the success of this long-standing initiative.
